The best games of 2023 by average rating (so far)
Without paying too much attention, October is almost over and this is what it means Most of 2023 is over, and with it many of the exciting releases on the gaming market. When we look back, after the turning point is already a few weeks behind us, How are things going in 2023? til today? What were they? best games in these almost ten months of the yearwaiting for the next expected releases – like those from Alan Wake 2?
We decided to answer the answer with some statistical data: we created the ranking of the best games according to average ratingaccording to the aggregator Metacritic (other than the one created by the aggregator itself, which found here). When it came to the top 30 we put together, we stuck to the following rules:
- Only one mention per game, reported for the platform on which it received the highest rating;
- The average score is expressed in hundredths;
- Expansions are excluded, we have only included complete games.
This article was originally published in late April and updated in July and August. In view of the upcoming year-end releases, we decided to update it in October.
So let’s take a look at what emerged in the overall ranking.

As you can see, the ranking is very full of new releases or remakes, but some of the expected names also made it into the top 30. The head-to-head race between them Zelda: TOTK (with 152 reviews) and equally excellent Baldur’s Gate 3 (112 reviews at the time of writing), embodying a very nice year for gamers.
It’s also interesting to see what it’s like in the second half of the year many names with very high ratings which, however, the general public has probably never heard of don’t even mention it.
On the platform side we have in the top 30:

- 9 games checked on PS5;
- 10 Games reviewed on PC.
It will be interesting to update this ranking in a few more months, when more particularly anticipated names – or, why not, some other surprises – will have made their way to the public.
