Panthers owner David Tepper appears to throw drinks at fans
Carolina Panthers Owner David Tepper was captured on video during Sunday’s 26-0 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars He apparently threw a drink toward Jaguars fans from his open-air suite at EverBank Stadium.
The video was posted on social media Sunday.
The incident apparently occurred about three minutes before the end of the game following an interception by the quarterback Bryce Youngwho was so frustrated after a sack early in the game that he threw a pill on the sideline.
A Panthers spokesman declined to comment. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said the league was “aware of the video” and had “no further comment at this time.”
It resulted in a loss that ended Carolina’s streak of 342 games (since 2002) without a shutout.
It came on a day when the Panthers (2-14) assured they would have the worst record in the NFL Chicago Bears (who owns Carolina’s pick) is the top selection in the 2024 draft.
Carolina traded two first-round picks and the top receiver DJ Moore to the Bears in April to move up from ninth to first and select Young. Shortly after the draft, Tepper told a group of fans at Bank of America Stadium that Young would lead the Panthers to Super Bowls.
Since then, little has gone right. Young is statistically considered one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL. The Panthers were promised weeks ago for a sixth straight season since Tepper paid $2.75 billion for the organization in 2018.
Tepper has fired three head coaches during the season since 2019, including Frank Reich after a 1-10 start this season and Matt Rhule after a 1-4 start last season.
